Competition Winners Pins & Needles 2010.
A big thank you to everyone who entered the Pins & Needles Quilt competition, there were some fabulous entries from all levels of ability.
The classes were judged by Kathleen Fisher of the Quilters’ Guild and Kathy Robson from the Newcastle Building Society.
The winners were:
Class 1 Traditional
Winner: Mary Lockie, 150th Anniversary Quilt
Runner up: Bridget Jones, Jamestown Quilt
Class 2 Great North Air Ambulance Helicopter Room
Winner: Caroline Morrell, Helicopter Invasion
Runner up: Anne Eade, Flying Angels
Class 3 Quilt Creations
Winner: Greencroft School, Gaga Butterfly
Runner up: Margaret Twist.
Class 4 Young Quilters
Winner: Greencroft School, Us!
Runners up: Dunston Hill Community Primary School.
A special mention must go to Caroline Morrell and Anne Eade who donated their quilts toThe Great North Air Ambulance raffle.
The winners of the raffle drawn on Saturday were:
First prize: Helicopter Quilt donated by Caroline Morrell, ticket number 0348 Mrs Snowdon from Teeside.
Second Prize: Flying Angels Quilt donated by Anne Eade, ticket number 0329 Sheila Barlow from Leadgate.
Third Prize: Helicopter Toy donated by Sharon Connolly ticket number 0161

The “Build a Quilt” raffle draw will take place in April 2010, once the quilt is sewn together; it is very near to completion. Many thanks to all who donated a square.
To date we have raised £921 for GNAAS with more to come from the “Build A Quilt” raffle. A great big thank you must go to Kim Suleman from The Fat Quarters for all her hard work and organisation at the show , to Gillian Tiplady from the Newcastle Building Society for all her support, and to Janet from the Great North Air Ambulance who came to the show to draw the raffle.
