See below some of the wonderful 'Knitted Artefacts' brought to us by the Customs House, exhibited at Pins and Needles 2011. Their knitted boat from last year had been on a metaphorical journey around the world and these are some of the beautiful works of art it came back with.

£1289.13 RAISED FOR THE GREAT NORTH AIR AMBULANCE
We are delighted to announce that following the recent Pins & Needles show at The Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle, Region 15E of The Quilters' Guild of the British Isles very kindly made and donated a 96" quilt which was raffled within the quilt show and raised a magnificant sum of £969.82 through donations and sale of tickets. A further £319.13 was donated from the cloakroom. A grand total of £1289.13 was raised in aid of The Great North Air Ambulance, a truly worthy cause. Many thanks to the stewards of the Quilters Guild, the ladies in the cloakroom and indeed all those that purchased tickets.
The winner of the quilt was Mrs Porritt from Hartlepool. When we telephoned her to give her the good news she said this was her first visit to Pins & Needles having just recently joined a quilting group in her area. Many congratulations - we hope you enjoy your prize.
